Who we are

About Tusk Cyber

High-impact engineering and security expertise for teams that need senior talent without a full-time hire.

Why Tusk Cyber exists

Most small teams and growth-stage companies can't afford a full-time CISO, a dedicated platform team, and senior engineers all at once. But they're building real products, handling real data, and facing real risk.

Tusk Cyber exists to close that gap. To give ambitious teams access to the kind of senior security and engineering thinking that used to only be available to larger organizations — delivered in a way that's practical, proportional, and built to last.

The mission is simple: help teams build systems that are secure, reliable, and maintainable — without the bureaucracy that slows most engagements down.

Background

Over the past decade, I've worked inside and alongside some of the most interesting teams in technology — building infrastructure at scale, securing sensitive systems, and shipping software in environments where reliability and security weren't optional.

My background spans platform engineering, cloud architecture, and application security. I've designed IAM systems for regulated industries, built CI/CD pipelines that gate on security scans, led cloud migrations from bare metal to AWS, and written the automation tooling that lets small teams punch above their weight.

I've operated as an individual contributor, a tech lead, and an embedded advisor. That range of perspective is what makes Tusk Cyber effective — I can think at the level of architecture and strategy, and I can also write the Terraform module or the incident response playbook myself.

The consultancy is deliberately small and boutique. Every client works directly with me — no account managers, no junior handoffs, no outsourced deliverables.

How we work

The values that guide every engagement.

Pragmatic, not prescriptive

Frameworks and best practices are a starting point, not a mandate. Every recommendation is grounded in what actually works for your team, your stage, and your threat model.

Secure by default

Security isn't an afterthought bolted on at the end. It's a design constraint baked into architecture decisions, code, and operational practices from day one.

Outcomes over process

Deliverables matter. A 200-page report that sits on a shelf isn't success. The goal is always a measurable improvement — a tighter posture, a faster pipeline, a system that works.

Transparent communication

You'll always know where things stand. No jargon for its own sake, no hidden agendas. If something is risky or a bad idea, I'll say so.

Why "Tusk"?

Elephants have a reputation for being both powerful and precise — capable of moving enormous obstacles, but also delicate enough to handle fragile things with care. That felt like the right metaphor for security and infrastructure work: the goal is strength and resilience, but never at the expense of intentionality.

The tusk itself is a tool — built for both offense and defense, for navigating difficult terrain and protecting what matters. That dual-purpose quality resonates with how I think about security engineering: it's not just about defense, it's about building systems that are inherently hard to break.

And honestly, "Tusk Cyber" sounds like it means business.
